Graziani named News, Media Relations Director

Janie Graziani is Stetson University’s new director of News and Media Relations.

Janie Graziani has been named director of News and Media Relations for Stetson University. At Stetson, Graziani will develop public relations, marketing and communications for the School of Business Administration and the natural and social sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Graziani joined Stetson on Nov. 19, after leaving AAA, Inc., where she was manager of Social Media.

“Janie is a great addition to our SUM team,” said Vice President for University Marketing Greg Carroll. “She is a veteran journalist and PR-practitioner who brings a great deal of experience and vision to Stetson’s strong Public Relations and Media Relations Office.”

“I am honored and excited to be a part of the Stetson public relations team,” said Graziani. “I have been impressed by Stetson’s energy, growth and results of marketing efforts throughout the country. I look forward to meeting everyone and working with the Stetson community to publicize the great initiatives and events that illustrate the Stetson brand.”

With more than 20 years of experience in public relations, social media and journalism, Graziani worked most recently at AAA, Inc., in Heathrow, Fla., where she was manager of Social Media. Prior to that she worked in public relations for AAA, and was editor of Car & Travel magazine for the local AAA club. Graziani worked as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor early in her career.

Graziani has been a speaker at national conferences on social media monitoring and interaction, and social media for non-profit organizations. She also served on the Business Advisory Council for Crooms Academy of Information Technology in Sanford, Fla. In 2002, as part of the AAA public relations team, Graziani was awarded a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America for her work on AAA’s 100anniversary publicity. In the 1990s, Graziani served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Magazine Association, and was its president in 1993.

Graziani earned a Master of Journalism degree from Louisiana State University, and earned her undergraduate degree at LSU as well, where she majored in journalism and minored in English and history.
