Election Results Watch Party Tuesday night

For those of you who have voted early or plan to go on Election Day and want to see the results of your efforts, the Center for Community Engagement, in conjunction with the “Stetson Votes” initiative, will be showing election results Tuesday, Nov. 6, live in the Stetson Room, second floor of the Carlton Union Building, starting at 7 p.m. up until the winner of the presidency is announced. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how votes are counted and hear political pundits talk about the intricacies surrounding the voting process.

The public is invited to attend Tuesday night’s Election Results Watch Party and see how Florida, a key ‘swing-state,’ compares to the rest of the nation.

The results of Stetson University’s straw poll, taken Oct. 24, were as follows:

  • Barack Obama: 214 votes (53.6%)
  • Mitt Romney: 165 votes (41.4%)
  • Write-Ins: 20 votes (5.0%)

The purpose of the straw poll, Stetson’s first in 32 years, was to gauge student interest in the presidential election and help identify the level of support each candidate has received from Stetson students. The poll results were posted for the campus community the following day.

The Carlton Union Building is located at 131 E. Minnesota Ave., on the DeLand campus. This event is scheduled to continue until the winner is announced. For more information, contact the Center for Community Engagement at Stetson University at (386) 822-8706.
