Stetson Volleyball Falls To USC Upstate 3-0

Visiting USC Upstate defeated Stetson 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-14) in an Atlantic Sun Conference volleyball match Friday evening at the Edmunds Center.

USC Upstate improved to 5-9 overall, 1-2 in the A-Sun.  Stetson dropped its ninth straight match and fell to 3-17, 0-4.

Junior Kaley Melville led all hitters with 18 kills on the night, while committing only three errors and posting a .429 attack percentage.  Freshman Cailyn Prewitt added nine kills, but no other Hatter had more than three.

Stetson’s best opportunity in the match came in the second set.  The Hatters hit .289 in the frame and led 19-14 at one point, but the Spartans finished on an 11-4 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Monique Russell picked up nine digs, leaving her just 16 shy of breaking the school record.

The Hatters will look to rebound on Saturday as Stetson will host ETSU for a 3 p.m. match at the Edmunds Center.
