The $20 million project to renew and expand our facility for teaching and practicing science is one of the most ambitious in Stetson's history. We realize that it will require the help of many donors over some time, so we have a phased plan for new construction and renovation that will allow us to move forward as funding becomes available. The first phase is a 20,000-square-foot addition to the front of the current building. The second phase is the major renovation and reconfiguration of Sage Hall. The case to initiate such a project is compelling. As this site demonstrates, the face of science has changed dramatically since Sage Hall was built some 40 years ago. While we have been successful in supporting a strong faculty and in acquiring advanced scientific instrumentation, the building itself has outlived its functional life and is no longer acceptable to house the quality of science education offered at Stetson University. As the University nears the celebration of its 125th anniversary in 2008-2009, the creation of a modern Science Center will represent powerfully our commitment to maintain the highest educational standards and to seek the best ways of sharing knowledge with our students, our region, and our world. Your participation is vital to our success. Please take this opportunity to make a lasting mark on Stetson University. |
