Senior music recitals on Saturday

Bowles senior recital

The senior music recitals for two Stetson University voice majors will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, in Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. The applied teacher for both seniors is voice professor Lloyd Linney, renowned opera singer, who has appeared in concerts and operas in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, as well as in Italy and the Virgin Islands. The public is invited to attend.

Rebecca Bowles:

Stetson University senior music major Rebecca Bowles, pictured right, will perform her senior recital Saturday, Nov. 23, from 4:15-4:45 p.m., in Lee Chapel. She will be accompanied by Barbara Larson, piano; Rebecca Vega, violoncello; and Griffin Weber, piccolo trumpet.

Bowles will perform 10 pieces, including classical musical masterpieces by Alessandro Scarlatti, Hector Berlioz, Claude Debussy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and John Woods Duke.

Originally from Valkaria, Fla., Bowles is a music education, vocal major.

She has received several honors during her years at Stetson, including the Tinsley Scholarship, Stetson Singers Scholarship, William E. Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, Winner 2012 Daytona Beach Choral Society Competition, and Division Runner-up at North Florida 2013 National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition.

Bowles was the 2012-2013 president of the Stetson University student chapter American Choral Directors’ association, 2012-2013 president of Stetson University Concert choir, and is currently a Wesley House Worship Leader.

Jennifer AllenbyJennifer Allenby:

Stetson University senior voice major Jennifer Allenby, pictured left, will perform her senior recital at 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, in Lee Chapel.

Allenby is earning her bachelor of music in vocal performance. She is originally from Chardon, Ohio.

Allenby will perform over 10 different pieces by legendary classical music composers including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gabriel Faure, Joseph Haydn, Stefano Donaudy, Jean Sibelius, and Kurt Weil.

She will be accompanied by Barbara Larson, piano and organ; Stephan Fillare and Jeremiah Riddle, violin; Erica Honkonen, viola; and Ariel Arthur, violin and cello.

Throughout her years at Stetson, Allenby has earned numerous scholarships, including the Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, Gleaner Life Insurance Scholarship, and the Career Development Travel Scholarship.
