The College of Arts and Sciences is the liberal arts heart of the university, with 19 academic departments and several interdisciplinary programs. A liberal arts education equips students with the skills they need to become leaders and to make a difference in the world: analysis, critical thinking, oral and written communication, collaboration, and problem solving. Our programs offer students opportunities for experiential learning and community engagement - preparing them for post-graduation success in their careers or graduate education.
Shaped by the values of social justice and civic responsibility, our programs are led by teacher-scholars with a strong commitment to student learning.
All of our programs promote integrated learning - creating connections between the classroom and local, regional, and global communities.
With small classes and extensive field experience, our graduate programs prepare students for professional advancement and specialization.
In the field, on the water, in local schools, abroad - our students learn by doing. The College offers holistic education - the education of the whole person.
