How do you select transfer students for admission? Transfer admission decisions are based on both objective and subjective criteria. While we do not require a minimum GPA, we do prefer applicants who have taken a rigorous load of college level courses at their current college or university. Students who will bring unique perspectives or experiences are of interest to the Admission Committee.
Can I have my credits evaluated before I pay my tuition deposit?
You can request to have your transcripts evaluated at any time. Set up an interview with us if at all possible. We will need the transcripts from all the colleges you have attended.
Can I apply for financial aid before I am accepted for admissions? Yes, anyone can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to applying for admissions or being accepted. As long as you include Stetson University’s Federal ID number (001531) on the FAFSA, the information will be sent to us electronically. Stetson will package financial aid for you after you have been accepted for admissions.
What other forms are necessary to apply for financial aid? The FAFSA is the only form required by Stetson to apply for student loans. There is no application for merit based scholarships as all admitted students are considered.
What is the university’s Financial Aid Code?
Stetson University's Financial Aid Code is 001531.
What happens if I drop below full time status (12 credits)?
You should always check with your academic advisor before you drop below 12 credits (full time status). Dropping to part time can affect your financial aid, scholarships, and loans.
How long will it take to finish once I transfer?
Time to degree is a result determined by the number of requirements a student completes prior to transfer, the number of requirements remaining to be completed, and the amount of units a student completes each session. If a student completes all of the general education, and lower division major requirements, and a total of 60 transferable semester units, and continues through the Passport Program full-time, the student should be able to graduate in 21 months.
How many hours can a student transfer from other schools (2-Year/4-Year)?
Total transfer hours applied to a degree program is 75 hours from a 4-year school. Maximum from a 2-year school is 60 academic. This limitation only applies to the Total Hours requirement for graduation.
