About Stetson

Founded in 1883, Stetson University is Florida’s first private university, and is consistently ranked among the best universities in the South in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges" edition.

A tradition of academic excellence and commitment to values characterizes the Stetson experience. With more than 60 majors and minors, Stetson provides excellent learning opportunities for undergraduates in its College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business Administration and School of Music. A low student/teacher ratio of 11:1 gives students individual attention and personal interaction with faculty. More than 95 percent of Stetson faculty members hold the highest degrees possible in their fields.

Located in DeLand, a Central Florida city of about 23,000 residents, Stetson's 175-acre historic campus is home to about 2,250 undergraduate students and more than 350 graduate students. The intimate campus atmosphere creates a safe learning and social environment. In addition to academics, students can get involved in more than 100 student organizations, Division I NCAA athletics and intramurals.

The university also includes the Stetson College of Law in Gulfport/St. Petersburg and two satellite centers: the Tampa Law Center in downtown Tampa and the Stetson University Center at Celebration in the Orlando area.
