Title IX

Resources

Individuals that experience sexual harassment, sexual violence or intimate partner violence are strongly encouraged to seek immediate assistance. Your first priority should be to get to a place of safety. You should then obtain necessary medical treatment as soon as possible in order to prevent or treat sexually transmitted diseases and screen for the presence of any date rape drugs. Undergoing a medical examination is also critical to preserving evidence and is a time-sensitive process. Exams can typically be conducted up to five days from the date of the incident, but you are encouraged to seek assistance as soon as possible to prevent the loss of evidence.

If you are in an immediate crisis, call 911.

The student may contact Student Counseling Services during regular working hours by phone or in-person (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., generally). After business hours, students may call 386-822-8740 to be connected to the Volusia County Crisis Response Team. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, select option 1. Public Safety

When someone reports an act of sexual misconduct or sexual violence to the Department of Public Safety, the appropriate law enforcement agency may also be notified. If the incident reported can be classified as a felony offense, law enforcement will automatically be notified regardless of whether a Reporting Party wishes to pursue prosecution. Public Safety will also notify a Stetson University professional staff member who will respond and provide resources and support for the student. The filing of a complaint under this policy is independent of any criminal investigation or proceeding, and (except that the university's investigation may be delayed temporarily while the criminal investigators are gathering evidence) the university will not wait for the conclusion of any criminal investigation or proceedings to commence its own investigation and take interim measures to protect the Reporting Party and the university community.

If you are in an immediate crisis, call 911.
