Born in Monrovia, Liberia, Simone grew up in St. Petersburg, and spent her entire professional career serving the State of Florida. She spent her first five years as a lawyer in the appellate arena. Simone then moved on to serve as assistant general counsel to the governor and later deputy chief of Staff. In 2004, the governor appointed her state chief information officer, and in 2005 she became secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the state's largest regulatory agency. In 2007, she was appointed deputy attorney general for the State of Florida. When appointed to the First District Court of Appeal in 2010, she was serving as executive director for the Florida Elections Commission.
