Tips from Students
Every parent should KNOW
-
that we can fix our own mistakes.
-
that we're just as scared as them.
-
if we're spending less time with you, it's because we are working hard!
-
that we may not always be able to talk to you, because college life is very hectic.
-
that the tool, sewing and first aid kits we thought we would never need really docome in handy!
-
that although we may not act like it sometimes, we really do miss home and lying in our own beds.
-
every student is going to change at least a little in their first year. The best thingto do is support them in their changes; without love and support from their family, those changes might become bad ones.
-
that we love you and appreciate your home cooking very much, now that we're gone.
-
that we have bad days, that doesn't mean you need to fly to Florida to console us!
-
we will always love you. We may think we're big bad college students now, but we still need our parents, whether we realize it or not.
Every parent should HAVE
-
encouraging words-college can be hard, and sometimes we'll call to vent.
-
patience. We won't always be the best, but we do try.
-
patience! It may be just as hard to cope with these new changes for you as it is for us.
-
a lot of trust in that we are making the right decisions.
-
the recipe for our favorite cookie ready to be baked and shipped whenever we need a taste of home.
-
snacks, toiletries, and other goodies that we enjoyto send in a care package; no matter how near or far we are, it's great to know you're thinking of us.
-
some peace of mind, because Stetson is a great place to be.
-
a healthy sleeping pattern (for some of those phone calls they may receive at late hours).
-
a fridge with a freezer so when we have the bad day there is ice cream to comfort us!
-
a new hobby. You have more time now that I'm gone, so now you should find something that you would enjoy doing (instead of calling us all the time and visiting every weekend).
