This is your first stop and welcome to Stetson University! Meet your FOCUS Leaders and join us for some quick refreshments before your day really starts! Please pick up your FOCUS orientation packet- make sure you read through the contents thoroughly prior to the mandatory 2:30 pm FOCUS group meeting. 8:30 am - 12:00 pm Residence Hall Check-in. Residence Halls Today is the Day! Once you have completed Orientation check-in, head to your assigned hall to pick up your new keys and begin unloading. Please follow the proper parking guidelines to enable all of our students to unload smoothly. The H.O.M.E. Team Move-In Crew will be stationed outside the Residence Halls to assist you! Center for First Year Studies First-Generation college students are the first people in their family to pursue a degree in higher education. Stetson Room The Office of Financial Aid will conduct this session for both Federal Work Study and University Employment recipients. This session will include descriptions of both work programs, required paperwork, payroll and payment procedures, timesheets, rights and responsibilities, and other general policies of the programs. 11:00 am - 12:30 pm First Year English Exemption Exam Part One. Flagler 334 All placement exams are optional. You may take this placement exam if you think your writing skills are strong enough to earn an exemption; however, you should remain enrolled in your current English course until notified by the Director of the Writing Program that you have tested out. Students hoping to be exempt from ENGL 101 must pass BOTH Part One and Part Two (Part Two is offered on Monday by invitation). 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Residence Hall Connectivity. Elizabeth Hall Auditorium Presented by the Associate Director of Health and Wellness Initiatives, this session explores some of the current issues in college health; from personal and physical safety to the struggles of how to maintain your fitness on campus. Many students start college with common misperceptions from TV and movies regarding alcohol, hazing and what “being Greek” is all about. The Historic Athens Theater, first opened in 1922, will feature a traveling 3-man show that hysterically mutilates the complete work of Shakespeare in 2 hours.
