Dr. Stephen Robinson
Professor of Music
Hailed by The New York Times for "effortless virtuosity," Stephen Robinson performs extensively worldwide and has appeared as soloist with orchestras including Cincinnati Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestras. Professor of Music and founding director of the Guitar Program (since 1983), his students have excelled in the finest graduate programs of Yale, Eastman School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, FSU and University of Southern California, among others, and many hold prominent positions in the music world.
An award-winning recording artist, Robinson has received unanimous acclaim for his CDs from American Record Guide, Fonoforum, Classical Guitar, Soundboard and Fanfare. Guitarra says "Robinson's career as a teacher is well known. He runs Stetson's guitar program, has won a bunch of competitions, recorded a score of CDs, and tours regularly. You have a player who has married opposite ends of guitar (teaching/performing) by finding a way to express the impetus for both simultaneously. It's a remarkable feat and one to aspire to."
