T. Wayne Bailey

Professor of Political Science

T. Wayne Bailey has been teaching at Stetson since 1963, when he founded the Department of Political Science. Bailey is co-founder of Stetson's Model Senate, directs the Washington Semester at American University program and serves on the Pre-Law Advisory Committee. He has held leadership positions in the Florida Democratic Party and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention 1972-2004, attending nine National Conventions. He has done extensive work with cities and counties, upgrading their charters and reforming their governments. He was vice chair of the Volusia County Charter and Study Commission that created the county constitution. He chaired the first two Charter Review Commissions and served as a member of the commissions in 1995 and 2006. He has been an active member of the American Lung Association for more than 35 years, and in 2004, was the first person in the U.S. to receive the Discovery Health Channel Medical Honor. He serves on the Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation board of directors.
