Michael Branton

Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science

Michael Branton was one of four faculty members who designed and founded the computer science major at Stetson in 1983, and is a former chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He founded the digital arts program at Stetson in 1995 and served as its first director. He has twice been president of the Faculty Senate, chairing both the Senate committee on Academic Quality, which made recommendations for improving academic quality at Stetson, approved by the board of trustees in 2001, and the Senate committee which produced the Senate whitepaper for the incoming administration at Stetson concerning needed improvements and priorities for the university in 2009. He also chaired the college of arts and science's committee that was responsible for designing the college's move to the course unit system and a new general education program in 2007-2008. Despite these things, what he really enjoys is teaching.
