M. Jane Christeson

Professor of Voice

Mezzo soprano Jane Christeson has had a varied career in oratorio and opera, appearing as soloist with companies and orchestras around the US. Twice a winner of the District Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, she has appeared with Cincinnati Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Palm Beach Opera, Whitewater Opera, the Alabama Symphony, Pomerregio Musicale, and many other orchestras. She has been heard on National Public Radio in live operatic performances, has appeared locally with Seaside Music Theater, Orlando Opera, and the Orlando Chorale, and has completed a tour of the Scandanavian countries as soloist with Brevard college and community choirs.

In addition to her academic work, Ms. Christeson received additional professional training in young artist programs with Cincinnati Opera as well as vocal coaching with Horst Günter in Freiburg, James Lockhard in London, and David Jones in New York. After seasonal appearances as soloist in several Central Florida performances of Handel's Messiah in 2011, Ms. Christeson took a sabbatical in Spring of 2012 and traveled to Venezuela to research and record art songs of Inocente Carrena. Her first solo CD recording, "Music of Johannes Brahms," was released in March of 2012.
