Carol Corcoran

Professor of Education

Dr. Corcoran joined the Department of Teacher Education in the fall of 1981. She earned both her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and Master of Arts in Elementary Education (with certification in Reading, K-12) from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Elementary Education (with certification in early childhood and elementary education) from the State University of New York College at Brockport.

Dr. Corcoran has published research in peer reviewed journals such as Reading Improvement and The Clearing House. She has presented at numerous state and national conferences, sharing such topics as standards and effective teaching, vocabulary instruction, motivating the underachiever and alternative assessment strategies. A former public school teacher and school reading coordinator, her area of specialty is Literacy Education.
