Brittani Munchel, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Practice for Counseling Education

Brittani Munchel is the Professor of Practice for Counseling Education; coordinating practicum and internship needs, as well as aiding students in finding an internship or practicum site within the community. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a State of Florida Qualified Supervisor for state registered mental health counselor interns. Brittani has 8 years of experience in community agencies; working with clients who have severe and persistent mental illness, criminal justice involvement, substance abuse, trauma, and difficulty coping. Brittani previously directed a mental health program for the Tenth Judicial Circuit of the Public Defender office and assisted attorneys and clients innavigating their court cases and personal struggles. Some of Brittani's research interests are related to the specialization of supervision, including best practices for remote supervision, gatekee ping, supervision theories, as well as the quality of supervision, program standards, and the development of counselor education students.Other interests include trauma, the effects of trauma on coping, and positive/negative development of coping strategies. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). Brittani has presented at the local, state, and national level.
