Art History Minor Program Website Stetson University offers a strong Art History Minor with a variety of courses ranging from ancient to contempory art. The Minor gives students a strong foundation for future teaching in the arts as well as for careers in museum or gallery work. Students learn to combine research skills and critical thinking to better understand the interactions of art and culture in a variety of different locales and historical periods. A rich and varied program of visiting artists, critics, and art historians widens student exposure to contemporary and historical art and artists. Recent lecturers and visiting artists have included Alison Saar, Samella Lewis, William Wiley, Patti Warashina, Michael Lucero, John Torreano, Carter Ratcliff, Jack Earl, Martha Rosler, Michael Rush, David Hickey, Vic Muniz, Zoe Leonard, and Tania Bruguera. The Duncan Gallery of Art, located across from the main studio in Sampson Hall, provides first-hand access to important new artwork. |
