The 38th Floyd M. Riddick Model
United States Senate
will take place in March 2009 at STETSON UNIVERSITY in DeLand, Florida. Schedule and registration details for the
38th F.M.R. Model U.S. Senate will be posted soon. The Floyd M. Riddick Model U.S. Senate at Stetson University seeks to educate college students about the legislative process in one of the nation's oldest political institutions, the U.S. Senate. Each year, over a hundred students from colleges and universities across the nation gather at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida to debate the issues in one of five legislative committees and on the floor of the Senate. Now in its 38th year, the F.M.R. Model U.S. Senate has served as the launching place for dozens of political careers and will continue to serve the students of Stetson University and other colleges and universities across the nation. In making plans for attending this year's Senate, it is strongly
advised that participants bring a wireless-capable laptop.
Participants will have full internet and printing
capabilities.
All amendments submitted for floor consideration
will be
filed with the Clerk of the Model Senate via the internet.
Although there are computers available for use, laptops will
lessen the amount of people who need access to those computers.
