Frequently Asked Questions

How are the courses and content delivered?

The M.Acc. program uses an online format, a process in which you do not attend lectures but rather learn anywhere you have access to the Internet. Online courses are delivered under the direction of faculty and staff via the Internet. Innovative educational technology allows you to get course assignments, ask questions of faculty and other students and participate in discussions at any time of the day or night. The help desk will support you if you encounter any issues throughout your program.

Will my diploma specify that this is an "online" degree?

No. You will receive the same Stetson University degree as our on-campus students.

How challenging is an online degree at Stetson University?

Our online program is just as rigorous and challenging as traditional on-campus classes and upon completion of the online M.Acc., your hard work will be rewarded with a degree that is highly regarded and functional. You'll be prepared for a rewarding career in the accounting industry.

How much time per week is required to complete Stetson's online MAcc program?

Most students spend between 15 to 20 hours studying each week. Ideal times to study can be found in the morning before your family wakes up, during spare time at the office or in the evening. The program is designed for working accountants who cannot afford to waste time driving to and from class each day in addition to upholding personal and professional commitments. Your facilitator, your student services manager and your cohort group will also support and help keep you on track with regards to time management.

What is the typical class size in a Stetson University online program?

You will complete your studies with a cohort or class of about 20-25 other students. This small class size allows you to get to know your fellow students and form professional and personal friendships over the course of your studies.

How long is the program?

The program can be completed in 12 months.

When can I start?

There are several start dates available. Your enrollment advisor will be happy to explain the benefits of various start dates and help you select the timing that works best for your schedule.

What if my GMAT is below 520?

Admission to the program is competitive. As such, students should consider re-taking the GMAT to achieve the most competitive score possible.

What is required for a GMAT waiver?

GMAT waivers may be granted for the following reasons: passage of the Uniform CPA examination prior to admission; possession of a graduate degree in a business or related/equivalent field (graduate business degrees must be earned from an AACSB-accredited institution); or significant, meaningful accounting-related or business-related work experience at the management level.

Can I take MAcc classes while taking foundation classes?

Business foundation courses must be completed prior to completion of the program. Accounting foundation courses must also be completed prior to completion of the program. Certain accounting foundation courses are prerequisites for advanced accounting courses and must be completed before enrolling in the advanced course.
