Music from Stetson activities are designed to prepare the
student for life as a 21st century performer. Learning how to communicate
with an audience is a great skill to have and it is critical to the success as
a performer in the musical world of today and tomorrow. Students perform
concerts at the selected schools and community sites.
Spring 2006:
Some of the sites visited this semester
were Boston Avenue School, Freedom Elementary, St. Barnabus Episcopal,
Southwestern Middle School, and Dr. Phillips High School.
COMMENTS:
“I
want to tell you how much our students enjoyed seeing the "live" musical
instruments. I would like to especially complement our first group. Their
program was well thought out and it kept in mind the attention spans of young
people. They showed a variety of musical styles and featured each of the
instruments. The children related well to their stories of personal
experiences and enjoyed being able to answer questions also. ........the
second group was the variety of instruments represented. We had studied "Peter
and the Wolf" and it was interesting for the students to see an actual bassoon
and not just my picture of one. The oboe was of particular interest to them
also and your student was enthusiastic about sharing, as most were.
…………they were
outstanding musicians and quite personable for performance majors. Thanks so
much for including us in your program. I feel it is a definite enrichment to
the students' musical education and we look forward to next year's groups.”

COMMENTS:
"Thank you so much for arranging the performance of the
vocalists who came to Woodward (Elementary) today. They did a great job with
their presentation and the students benefited greatly. I realize that it's
difficult to coordinate schedules; therefore, I appreciate the effort put into
this." Mary Topping
"Our families and residents that attended the concerts
enjoyed them so much! They talked about it for days. We appreciate that you
selected Ridgecrest Nursing to perform at this year. I hope that we will have
the opportunity to be blessed next year with their performance."
Paula Gentry, Activity Director
"...The performances were absolutely wonderful and enjoyed
by all. Please continue to provide "Music from Stetson" at area schools. So
many students don't get a chance to get out and experience musical
performances like the ones today....Thanks so much."
