How do I Join a Choir at Stetson?

Fall 2012 AUDITION PROCEDURES

Each student must sign up for an audition time.  The sign up sheets are posted on the North bulletin board in Presser Hall.  Students are to prepare an art song or aria; a pianist will be provided at no charge. There will also be a sight-reading and musicianship skills component.  Audition call-backs and voice placement will be held Thursday August 23rd in the evening.

ELIGIBILITY, COURSE CREDIT

CHOIRS REQUIRING A FORMAL, ANNUAL AUDITION: Concert Choir, Stetson Women's Chorale ,  Stetson Men

CHOIRS WITH NO FORMAL AUDITION: Choral Union

OPERA THEATER at STETSON UNIVERSITY holds auditions for ROLES and CHORUS PARTS. The Opera Director will post audition schedules and guidelines on the Presser Hall Catalog Board each semester. Non-Music-Majors welcomed.

NON-MUSIC MAJORS WELCOMED. One need not be a music major to participate in the opera or choirs at Stetson.

Community members of all ages are invited to join the Choral Union and need not be registered as Stetson students.

Students enrolled at Stetson receive academic credit for their participation in choral ensembles. For NON-MAJORS fitting choir into their curriculum, a zero-credit option may be available. For students with room in their schedule, all choirs are awarded credit at the rate of 1 Credit (.25 units) per semester.   It is possible for students of any class level to be in any of the choirs pending audition as required.
