Students, Faculty and Staff alike were able to visit with different vendors from the surrounding community.
The competition was fierce as athletes played for glory in the Stetson College of Law Olympics on October 4th, 2012 as part of the annual Stetson Health Fair. Students were required to exercise both their muscles and their brains for high-octane games such as Sudoku, power-walking, and corn-hole.
And exercise they did! Spectating students were delighted to watch as competitor Alesha Smith put together a puzzle of a kitten in just over three-and-a-half minutes. One of the highlights of the event was Najja Willis’ gold-medal turn at the hula-hoop competition, in which she successfully rotated the hoop for over nineteen minutes. While a little short of the seventy-four hour and fifty-four minute world-record earned in the sport by Aaron Hibbs in 2009, Willis holds her head up high. “I am proud of my performance today, but I know I can do better,” said a beaming Willis. “Maybe next year I’ll get there.”
Although many students competed for the gold, only a lucky few can claim the title of Stetson champion in their respective sports. “It was great to compete in the Stetson Olympics; everyone had so much fun,” expressed hopscotch co-champion Caitlein Jammo. “I just might wear my medal for a week!”A big “thank you” to the students who attended, and to all of the vendors that showed up to make the Health Fair event spectacular.
