Housing - Autumn in London

london_hotelWhile you are free to locate your own housing, the Autumn in London program does offer a housing option through the Acorn Management Service described below.

The Acorn Program

Students have the option of renting an apartment or room through the ACORN housing service, which manages the FSU Center. All law students who stay in Acorn housing will stay at either the Bloomsbury or Bedford apartments, or in the Janet Poole House. The Janet Poole House is located in Bloomsbury, within easy walking distance of the FSU Center. The Bloomsbury and Bedford apartments are within walking distance of the FSU Center. Amenities included with the housing fee are:

  • Telephone line
  • Wireless Internet access
  • Personal locker (you are to supply padlock)
  • Digital TV with over 20 channels including two 24 hours news and two music channels, Film 4 and ABC1

Byng Place

Byng Place consists of different-sized and -style apartments catering for 2, 3, 6, 9 and 11 students. The various apartments are as follows:

Four apartments consisting of single bedrooms with a small, shared living area, kitchen and
shower room. Three of the flats are for 2 people and one is for 3 people (all with single
bedrooms).  Please note that the communal living areas are very small.

Two flats which contain 2 twin bedrooms, with a communal living room, kitchen and
bathroom or shower-room.

Several large flats for 6, 9, and 11 people which have living room, kitchen, 2 shower rooms, and
twin bedrooms and lounge.
 
There are a few single and twin rooms which have en-suite bathrooms, and also a twin
studio with its own kitchen and shower room.

Bloomsbury Flats

The apartments are on Bloomsbury Street and are recently renovated. The building is within 5-10 minutes from the FSU building, within walking distance of the theater and entertainment district , and is one street away from Southampton Row, a main London street with restaurants, shops, bus stops, etc. Each flat has a variety of room types with singles, doubles and triples. All apartments are fully furnished with a separate living area, kitchen, washer-dryer, microwave, digital television, telephone (which takes incoming calls for free), wireless Internet access and a personal locker (you supply the padlock). Each student is supplied with two sets of bed linen and towels. Weekly cleaning and maintenance is carried out by the ACORN staff.
