Professor Peter Fitzgerald will have a short piece entitled “The WTO, Hunting Seals, and Public Morality” in the Wildlife News column of the Animal Law Committee of the ABA Torts and Insurance Practice Section summer newsletter. The piece discusses the WTO Appellate Body’s May 22nd decision in the EU Seal Products Regulation case – the first AB decision to recognize that animal welfare concerns are properly within the ambit of the GATT Art. XX “exceptions” for measures which can trump the GATT’s general emphasis on promoting free trade.
