Professor Rebecca C. Morgan Elder Law Scholarship Fund announced at SNT conference
Attorneys, trustees, estate planners, financial advisers, CPAs and other elder care professionals attended the 15th Annual 2013 Special Needs Trusts – The National Conference held Oct. 16-18 in St. Pete Beach, Fla. The advanced day session opened with a presentation by Associate Dean Kristen D. Adams, announcing the Professor Rebecca C. Morgan Elder Law Scholarship Fund.
The newly named scholarship for students enrolled in Stetson’s Elder Law Certificate of Concentration Program will enable students to learn about the legal issues facing a growing elder population.
This year’s conference covered critical topics about special needs trusts and included sessions led by Michael Astrue, former commissioner of Social Security; Chung-yiu “Andrew” Lee, attorney with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of General Counsel; and Ret. Maj. Gen. Joseph Lynch, general counsel and corporate secretary of the Military Officers Association of America.
“Every year, this conference provides the most up-to-date and relevant education about special needs trusts and related disability law in the country, as well as an opportunity for professionals to network with the top practitioners and advisors in the country,” said Professor Rebecca C. Morgan, Boston Asset Management Chair in Elder Law and director, LL.M. in Elder Law. “The speakers are so gracious in giving their time and expertise to our educational efforts in this important area.”
The next 16th Annual Special Needs Trusts – The National Conference is scheduled for Oct. 15-17, 2014, at the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club.
