Stetson Law Review - How to Become a Member

Grade-On

1. Grade-On. Students can receive a grade-on invitation to join Stetson Law Review after they complete their first semester of law school (full time) or first year (part time) and Research & Writing I. To grade-on, a student must rank in the top 2% of his or her class (cumulative) and receive a 3.25 or above in Research & Writing I. If a student receives a grade-on invitation, that student is eligible to defer Stetson Law Review membership until he or she completes Research & Writing II.

2. Grade-On. Students can receive a grade-on invitation to join Stetson Law Review after they complete Research and Writing II. To grade-on, students must rank in the top 5% of their class (cumulative). Students can receive a grade-on invitation after any fall or spring semester upon completion of Research and Writing II as long as they rank in the top 5% of their class (cumulative) and have three semesters remaining in which to do Stetson Law Review work, including summer semesters. For example, if a student does not rank in the top 5% of his or her class after the first year, but later ranks in the top 5% after the second year, that student will receive a grade-on invitation to join Stetson Law Review.

Write-On

1. Write-On Competition. To be eligible, a student must have a 2.9 GPA, have completed Research & Writing II by the time the competition begins, and have three semesters remaining in which to do Stetson Law Review work. Students have 10 days to write a 20-page Casenote based on sources we provide. The Casenote will address a recently decided case. Editors review write-on papers and accept them based on an objective standard, meaning there is no limit to the number of papers that can be selected through the write-on competition.

2. Publication of a Paper. Students may submit a paper for publication to Stetson Law Review's Publication Committee. If the paper is chosen for publication, a student will receive an invitation to join Stetson Law Review.

NOTE: See the article "Legal Research, Legal Writing, and Legal Analysis: Putting Law School into Practice" for helpful information on legal research and writing.

Transfer students may also receive an invitation to Stetson Law Review if eligible. Please email lreview@law.stetson.edu for more information.
