Through Stetson Law's Summer International Externship Program, students can gain practical experience with international organizations, foreign governmental entities, and law firms around the world while also earning three academic credits. Students in the program have opportunites to:

  • Explore a particular area of law at an international field-placement site
  • Improve practical skills such as communication, research and writing
  • Enhance personal skills while gaining poise and confidence
  • Meet and work with legal professionals around the world. These relationships may prove invaluable when seeking full-time employment.

The Summer International Externship Program is a highly selective program available to a very limited number of qualified students at Stetson. Typically only 1 to 3 students will be selected per year. If selected, you are eligible to apply for a financial stipend to offset some of the costs you will incur in the program.

Please visit the International Programs Office for more information.

To qualify for an externship, a student must (a) have completed the full first-year curriculum at the time of the start of the Externship and (b) be in good academic standing. Students enrolled in the full-time program typically should qualify for an externship after they have successfully completed the spring semester of their first year of law school. Students enrolled in the part-time program typically should qualify for an international externship after they have completed successfully the spring semester of their second year of law school.
