Professor Carla L. Reyes joined Stetson University College of Law in 2016. Professor Reyes was also recently named a 2017-2018 Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.   She teaches in the areas of secured transactions and business organizations. Professor Reyes’ scholarship interests include the impact of emerging technology, including decentralized ledger technology, on the implementation, adjudication and understanding of law and regulation.
 
Prior to law teaching, Professor Reyes was an attorney in the Technology, Transactions and Privacy practice in the Seattle, Washington office of Perkins Coie LLP. She was a core member of the Blockchain Technology and Digital Currency and Electronic Financial Services industry groups. Professor Reyes’ practice centered on advising clients, from start-ups to established corporations, on how to navigate the murky regulatory landscape applicable to emerging technologies and disruptive business models. Professor Reyes previously served in the litigation practice at Perkins Coie LLP where she defended class actions related to e-commerce and privacy and security.
 
Professor Reyes is a graduate of Duke University School of Law, where she earned a J.D., magna cum laude, and an LL.M. in International Law; served as the editor-in-chief of the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law; competed on the Moot Court Board; and coached the World Trade Organization Moot Court team. Professor Reyes also holds an M.P.P. from Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy and a B.A. from Whitworth University. She is admitted to the bar in Washington.
