Professor Kurt Lenz earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Duquesne University. He earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was executive editor of the school's Business Law Journal and a member of the Moot Court Honor Board. He then practiced law for 10 years as a commercial litigator at firms in Pennsylvania and New York. He has tried a number of cases to verdict before state and federal courts and argued several significant cases on appeal. From 2007-2010, Professor Lenz taught legal research and writing at Stetson Law and, in 2011, he taught at the University of Miami School of Law. In fall 2012, he returned to Stetson as a visiting assistant professor of legal skills.
Professor Lenz presented at the 2009 Southeast Legal Writing Conference on the subject of anticipating the needs of non-native speakers in the legal writing classroom. He also presented a poster at the Legal Writing Institute's 2010 Biennial Conference on the subject of utilizing peer feedback in the legal writing classroom.
