Beijing Normal University Law School, taught an 8 day Compressed Federal Rules/Trial Advocacy course to Beijing Normal Law students; After the course, the Chinese students did a mock trial (of a civil case) in English. The Chinese students demonstrated their excellent command of the trial skills of developing a theme for a case, delivering opening and closing arguments, making and responding to objections under the Federal Rules of Evidence, introducing exhibits and doing direct examinations. They also learned cross examination techniques including: how to control a witness that is being unresponsive, impeaching a witness with prior inconsistent statements and refreshing recollection on cross examination of the witness who tries to avoid cross examination by constantly stating that they don't remember. The performance of these skills by these Chinese students was nothing short of amazing considering the short period of training that they received. June 14 - 25, 2010 (8 days of this period), Beijing Normal University Law School, Beijing, China. *(a DVD of one of those mock trials is available if you are interested in having Professor Everhart come to your law school to teach his compressed Evidence/Advocacy course to law students or train practicing lawyers, and government officials).
