Stetson Wins Florida Justice Association Mock Trial Competition

Team Stetson:

So. The Florida Justice Association sponsors a Mock Trial event each fall where they invite the Florida law schools to step into the arena and see who is best. (Do you see where this is going?)

We took two squads of four each from Stetson.

Team Green:

  • Tai Lowry
  • Khalil Madani
  • Daniel Miles
  • Lisa Ungerbuehler

Team White:

  • Shaun Cummings
  • Chad Florin
  • Ashley Goodman
  • Catherine Sams

A total of twelve squads began the day on Saturday morning. After the preliminary trials, eight were eliminated and four advanced – one each from The University of Florida and Florida State and two, count ‘em, TWO from you-know-where.  Well. It turned out that UF was dispatched in the semi-final round and FSU survived until the finals.

On Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2013, a mock trial squad from Stetson University College of Law brought yet another win home. Home to Stetson. (This just might be a good spot for one of those “Dangs” we’ve come to enjoy so much over the years!)  It was Team Green that got the verdict.

Of course the real reason that all of us can be so proud of our students is not the win. No, no.  Our advocates, from both squads, did every trial The Stetson Way. That’s what they did because that’s what we do. And we do that because that’s who we are. Truth.
