Stetson Journal of Advocacy and the Law Information Session/Tryouts

The Stetson Journal of Advocacy and the Law is a student-produced legal journal dedicated to discussing, exploring, and influencing contemporary issues related to oral and written advocacy. We publish articles on all facets of advocacy (including Alternative Dispute Resolution, Trial Advocacy, Appellate Advocacy), with an issue dedicated solely to Veteran’s Advocacy. Articles are written by practitioners, judges, law professors, and students.

The requirements to become an editor are as follows: Completion of RWI, completion of RWII and a GPA of 2.9 or above.  1Ls who have finished RWI and are currently enrolled in RWII are highly encouraged to submit a tryout package.

One of the unique aspects of our journal is that we make the articles available online across various browsers. To accomplish this, we utilize our editing software (LyX). To assist in the learning curve of using LyX and setting the software up for the Tryout process, we are providing a training session prior to tryouts.

The training session is not mandatory but is highly encouraged. The session will be held in Classroom G on April 8th from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Please bring your laptop with you. Our Editorial Board and current editors will walk you through the process of setting up Lyx and troubleshoot any potential issues. Please sign up for the training here (https://forms.gle/HPWJs2CBC2PkyELMA).

Tryout packets will be distributed to those who attend the training (and those who request a tryout packet by email to [email protected] ) on Friday, April 15th at 5:00 pm. The tryout session will end Friday, April 22nd at midnight.

If you have any questions and/or concerns please reach out to [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
