SLDC Essay Contest

The essay is due by 9:00 p.m. on November 17, 2023. All individuals who submit an essay will receive 1 leadership credit for their participation. One individual will be selected by the Committee as our essay “winner” and will receive an additional leadership credit for a total of 2 leadership credits. The winner will be selected based on their adherence to the prompt, creativity, and understanding of the SLDC pillars. 

Essays must be 2 to 3 pages in length and written in size 12 Times New Roman font.

This essay is not the same as the Capstone Essay students must write to earn their Leadership Certificate. If you are graduating in December and need to complete the Capstone Essay, please email Dana Ferraro at [email protected]

Essay Prompt:

Becoming a lawyer can be a goal for many, and the route that one takes to achieve this task can be immense. It is important to have core values and a work ethic that will enhance your skills socially and professionally.

Great lawyers possess many qualities that make them successful in their practice area. It ties a lot to their approach, vigor, and creativity.

Someone with a true knowledge of self can easily assess how important these qualities would have in a future career.

Reflect on who you are. What values and guiding principles do you possess that shape your professional identity? How will your competence lead you to a successful legal career?
