Notice of the Annual Campus Security Report – Clery Act

In 1998, the Federal Government passed the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, formerly the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990. This law requires universities and colleges receiving federal funding to disclose reported instances of criminal activities on campuses. In addition to the disclosure of campus crime statistics, the act requires timely warnings of criminal activity to the campus community, as well as the disclosure of various campus policies. For more information on this legislation, please visit the Jeanne Clery Web Site at http://www.cleryact.info. The act is intended to provide students and their families, as higher education consumers, with accurate, complete, and timely information about safety on campus so that they can make informed decisions.

The Department of Public Safety prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This report is prepared in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies surrounding Stetson University. Campus crime, arrest, and referral statistics include those reported to the Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement agencies.

Stetson University Public Safety is disclosing the availability of the 2017 Annual Security Report to all enrolled students, University employees, prospective students, and prospective employees.

The Annual Security Report contains crime statistics about certain specified crimes/incidents that have been reported to the Stetson Department of Public Safety and/or Campus Authorities over the past year that have occurred either on-campus, in off-campus buildings, in property owned or controlled by the University, or on public property adjacent to campus.
