Moot Court Board–What a Weekend!

What a weekend!  Five teams of Moot Court Board members were competing at three competitions, and the final results are in—add a third brief award and a championship to the list of accomplishments for the Moot Court teams this weekend!

Please join me in congratulating Jeremy Bailie and Kevin Crews for winning the National Veterans Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.  In its fifth year, the National Veterans Moot Court Competition is the only competition of its kind that focuses on veterans law.  The appellate briefs and oral arguments are judged by experienced veterans law practitioners, and the judges of the final round are actual judges from the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (or CAVC), in the actual CAVC courtroom.

This is the fifth year for the competition, and every year, there has been a Stetson team in the finals.  And in addition to winning the competition, Jeremy and Kevin also won the Best Petitioner’s Brief Award.

Congratulations Jeremy and Kevin! And a very special thanks goes out to their coaches, Dean Allen and Jason Stearns, Esq.  Yes, Dean Allen was balancing coaching responsibilities between the two teams at the National competition and the two teams competing at the Veterans competition.  Thank you, Dean Allen and Jason, for your tireless commitment to Stetson’s Moot Court Board!
