Last Minute Internship Opportunity for Fall- Act Now!
Interested in advocating on behalf of the homeless in our community? There are a few last minute opportunities in the Homeless Advocacy Internship. The student will work under the supervision of the Homeless Outreach Attorney for the 6th Judicial Circuit handling issues such as 1) researching ordinances believed to be unconstitutional and assisting the attorney in drafting proposed new legislation, 2) engaging in research projects for the Mobile Medical Unit and researching issues related to the provision of medical respite beds and other rehabilitative services, and 3) client interviews and medical records requests and summaries to assist with SOAR/homeless Social Security Disability application preparation. The student may also have the opportunity to observe Baker Act proceedings. Although the work would cover the 6th circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) most, if not all, of the work could be done out of the Criminal Justice Center in Clearwater.
If interested please act quickly by emailing email@example.com indicating your interest and attaching your resume.
