Florida Bar YLD Law Student Division Mentoring Opportunity

We are happy to announce the start of the 2015-2016 Mentoring Program!
You must be a member of the FL Bar YLD Law Student Division to take advantage of this opportunity. Please e-mail flbarlsdexec@law.stetson.edu if you would like more information on how to become a member

As a participant in the Mentoring Program, you will be paired with an attorney who has signed up to be a mentor and currently practices in the geographical area you wish to eventually work and/or your practice area of interest. We encourage our mentors/mentees to cultivate a professional relationship throughout law school and continue their relationship into practice.

The benefits of acquiring a mentor in law school are endless! Students have attended hearings, client meetings, networking events, and social gatherings with their mentors in the past. You can reach out to your mentor for help with things like career building skills, class questions, and resume preparation.

If you choose to participate, we ask that you make a genuine effort to get to build a relationship with your mentor! The Law Student Division sincerely appreciates the time that these attorneys are donating, and it is important that the students who sign up respect their time as well. You may request to be paired with an attorney in the city that you are currently located in or in the city that you wish to practice in after graduation. Regardless, we ask that you make an effort to meet your mentor in person as much as possible. We will help facilitate conversation by providing topics of discussion, but the program is very flexible and truly yours to create!

While we will do our best to pair you with a mentor based off of the preferences that you list, please note that many factors will be taken into account as we attempt to pair hundreds of people across Florida.

The sign up page will be open during the month of October. Look out for additional emails regarding who your mentor is and how to contact them later in the semester.
