Event Postponed – “Can the Government Steal Your Money?” postponed until Tuesday 2/28 from 12-1pm in Eleazer
Can the government take all of a family’s money based on suspicion that one family member committed a crime? That is exactly what happened to the Slatic family earlier this year, when the San Diego County District Attorney seized over $100,000 in personal bank accounts belonging to James Slatic, his wife Annette, and their two teenage daughters, Lily and Penny, without charging anyone with a crime.
This event will bring to the forefront that issues relating to current Asset Forfeiture law, and will be discussed within the context of the Slatic case that is currently pending in California. For our speaker, we will have the actual attorney from the Institute for Justice who is working the Slatic case, Allison Daniel.
Allison Daniel is an attorney with the Institute for Justice’s Florida office. She joined the Institute in August 2015 and focuses her practice on economic liberty and property rights. She received her law degree from the Florida State University College of Law in 2015.
