Congratulations Orseck Moot Court team members!

Please join me in congratulating Jeremy Bailie, Anisha Patel, and Nick Sellars, who competed at the Robert Orseck Memorial Moot Court Competition at the Florida Bar conference the last two days. The teams advanced to the final round and won the Best Brief Award!

Because the competition takes place at the Florida Bar conference, many of the rounds were judged by actual sitting judges. Our team argued in front of circuit court and appellate court judges, and in the final round, the team argued in front of the justices of the Florida Supreme Court.

The team made us proud by not only being finalists and winning the Best Brief Award, but the team needed to be ready for the unexpected as well, from arguing in rooms that were the temperature of a sauna to remaining composed during a timing malfunction. Through it all, Jeremy, Anisha, and Nick were poised and professional! Time and time again, the coaches—me and alumnus Larry Miccolis—heard praises from the judges. One state appellate court judge told us that our students were amazing and were better than the appellate attorneys who appeared in his court! This is not surprising—Jeremy, Anisha, and Nick were representing us and we are Stetson!

Again, congratulations to Jeremy, Anita, and Nick! Thank you to the administrators, professors, and alums who came out and judged the team. And a very special thanks to Larry Miccolis for his constant professionalism and commitment to Stetson’s Moot Court Board.
