Attention 1 L Students ~ Don’t forget to submit your Bar Application early

Please see the email below from the Executive Director of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, Michele A. Gavagni.  REMEMBER: If you submit your completed notarized application to the College of Law’s Business Office by January 10, the College of Law will pay your $100 student registrant fee!

The College of Law provides free notary services to our students.  Please visit Sharon Bilsborough in Academic Success/Bar Prep, Tiki James or Julie Saffan in the Business Office, Jessica Fehr in Faculty Support Services, Dianne Oeste in Human Resources, Jason Buckmelter, Jacque Howell or Kristin Moore in the Law Library, Tracy Rich in Residential Life or Alicia Norton in Student Affairs for assistance with the notarization of your bar application.

 Dear 1L Students:

 Happy New Year!

The filing deadline for submitting your 1L student registration with the Florida Board of Bar Examiners is January 17, 2017.  This is a postmark deadline.  You have two extra days this year because January 15 is a Sunday and January 16 is the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, so the deadline is on January 17th.

To file a student registration, please review the checklist for registering as a first-year student.  There are a number of items that must be submitted that take additional time, such as having your fingerprints taken and submitted electronically or gathering documentation of citizenship or immigration status.  Additionally, ask your undergraduate school to forward your transcript directly to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, 1891 Eider Court, Tallahassee, FL  32399-1750.

Congratulations if you have already submitted your Registrant Bar Application this year–you are well ahead of the timely deadline and off to a great start!  Just remember to watch your mail, keep your mailing address current, and promptly respond to any and all board requests.

Sincerely yours,

Michele A. Gavagni
