May, 2009: Stetson University pre-med students begin summer course work at Florida Hospital DeLand under the guidance of Dr. Lyle Wadsworth. Students observe the work of local physicians during office visits, rounds, and a variety of surgical procedures.

May 11, 2009: Elizabeth Bhimjee and Janet Lyons met with Marshall Criser, President, AT&T Florida and Judy Childers, AT&T Foundation Executive Director at AT&T’s Miami offices. AT&T funded Stetson Associate Professor Dr. Dan Plante’s iPhone application project; Dr. Plante's students created Stetson-specific iPhone applications such as interactive campus maps. The AT&T grant gives students the opportunity to advance real-world tecnology.

May 11, 2009: Wachovia handles many charitable donor accounts that benefit Stetson. In Miami, Wachovia’s Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Consultant, Maria Blet, met with Janet Lyons and Elizabeth Bhimjee to share information. They discussed how donor gifts benefit students and the many ways Wachovia's work enriches the academic experience.

March 20, 2009: Students, faculty and staff toured Progress Energy facilities, hosted by Tricia Johnson, Community Relations Manager, Bret Graham and Red Flowers/DeLand facility and Reggie Anderson/DeBary facility.
Progress Energy Scholars Jessica Hodal and Amanda Desorneaux are joined by students Stephan Ledain, Sam Rabin, and Tyler Brandafino. Also on the tour are Dr. Tony Abbott, Assistant Professor of Geography/ Director Environmental Science and Dr. Bruce Bradford, Professor/Dept. Chair Geography and Environmental Sciences

April 3, 2009: The Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center was dedicated. Homer and Frances(Dolly) Rutledge Hand made a lead gift for the University's new Art Center featuring two galleries, one to exhibit rotating selections from Stetson's Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection and the second to display works from the University's permanent art collection or special shows. Exhibition of the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection will now be available for both the scrutiny of scholars and the pleasure of the general public and tourists who have an interest in art and culture. The Center will build the reputation of the artist, the facility, Stetson University, and the surrounding area.
