Our Underground World will glow with more than fluorescent rocks. Join us for a harvest celebration at the Museum, inside and out. There is no charge for this event, but we always appreciate small donations to our educational programs.

ECHO RANGERS: Passport to Earth's Treasures Family Day/Stetson University Open House

We welcome all visitors for this special Saturday opening when the Gillespie will host Volusia County's Echo Rangers for special activities, including Mineral and Rock identification, Gillespie Geo-Bingo, Fossil Classification, and Volcanoes Rock.

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

Hot Rocks / Cool Room
From 10am to 2pm, Saturday, September 26, the Gillespie Museum will participate in Museum Day, sponsored by the Smithsonian Magazine. In the museum, check out "Volcanism: Insight Into Earth's Interior," which features a wall-sized mural depicting volcanic activity and an interactive display bringing visitors in direct contact with volcanic rock; and a special exhibit from the historic T. B. and Nellie Gillespie Collection featuring variscites from the world-renowned Little Green Monster Mine in Utah. In the adjacent Rinker Envionmental Learning Center, a representative of Progress Energy will make presentations on the building's geothermal loop, which uses the earth as an insulator and as a source of energy.
President's Preview Day
