FOCUS Orientation

FOCUS is a four-day orientation program that occurs in the days leading up to the first day of classes for the fall semester. FOCUS stands for "Friends On Campus Uniting Students" and is designed to help new students have a successful transition into the University. In addition to the orientation activities, each new student is assigned a team of FOCUS leaders - two upper-class students who assist the first year students in their academic planning and social adjustment at Stetson.

In addition to the orientation at the beginning of the semester, FOCUS also encompasses an extended orientation program in which the FOCUS groups get back together throughout the first semester. Events have included Stetson Athletic games, beach trips, attending lectures, grabbing lunch in the Commons, and much more!

For an example of what goes on during FOCUS for students and parents, here is a tentative schedule for FOCUS 2008. Sessions, times, and locations are subject to change without notice. Please use this schedule as a general reference; the final schedule will be handed out at check-in on Saturday, August 16th beginning at 8:00am at the Center for First Year Studies.
