EN190-02: American Freedom in Action
|
| |

Free speech, freedom of religion, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, due process of law – all commonly recognized terms, but what do they mean in actual practice? Using public schools as the stage, we will examine American freedom through legal U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Can students protest, pray, or be strip searched? Can a school post the Ten Commandments or censor student publications? Can a public school teach intelligent design alongside evolution? If you are interested in a career in law, education, religion, or politics – or are passionate about liberty – will love this hands-on study of the American experience.
