Civic Groups And Organizations This includes groups like the Rotary Club, Lion's Club, Elk's Club, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, Kiwanis Club, etc. If you call or visit a local chapter, they will be able to direct you.
Corporations Most large corporations such as GE, Martin Marietta, Walt Disney World, Winn Dixie, Publix etc. have scholarship programs. Sometimes they are reserved for their employee's dependents, but often they are open to the general public.
Professional Organizations, Unions, Craftsmen Guilds If you or your parents are members of any of these types of organizations (ie: Plumber's Union, Electrical Worker's Union, Pro Bowler's Association, American Business Women's Association, etc.), ask about possible scholarships. Please note: if you receive financial assistance from outside sources, please inform the Office of Financial Aid of the source and amount of assistance. Per federal regulations, this award, in combination with your need-based assistance, cannot exceed your financial need as determined by your FAFSA. If it does, your award will be reduced accordingly, beginning with loans and/or student employment.
Assistance For Military Personnel And Dependents Some branches of the military offer assistance for active duty members, retirees and their dependents. In addition, many service-connected associations sponsor scholarships. For instance, associations such as the Navy Wives Club sponsor generous scholarships. Much of the information pertaining to this type of assistance is available through scholarship search engines on the Internet, including www.fastweb.com. Another option is to check with your local command "family service center". They may have information on assistance available from local units. Depending on the branch of service you are connected with and whether you paid into that branch's "Relief Society" there may be assistance available for you or your dependents. Information can be found on the relief societies by contacting your branch's payroll department.
