Aid For Study Abroad Students

If you're thinking of studying abroad, or if you've already made the decision to study at one of our Stetson sponsored programs around the world, you're probably wondering how you're going to finance your studies and what you can do now to get a head start.

You'll be happy to know that you do qualify for some financial aid during your semester or year abroad. Qualified applicants participating in a Stetson Abroad program are still eligible for all federal and state grant programs, all federal loan programs; and any alternative financing that you have through private lenders and companies. Student employment and athletic scholarships are not available to students studying abroad. In the event you are studying abroad through a non Stetson Abroad program, the financial aid you receive would more than likely not be available.  It is important to contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine the best course of action for your particular situation.

In order to assure that your financial situation is in order, complete and submit all financial assistance applications, documentation, promissory notes for student loans, and veterans' benefits forms to the Office of Financial Aid. You should also designate a power of attorney to sign for any student loan checks that might arrive while you are abroad. You may submit the power of attorney form and close these loans in the Office of Student Accounts, Elizabeth Hall, Room 112.
