Theatre Arts Program

Curriculum Theatre arts classes cover a broad spectrum. By choosing course offerings in the department, students can tailor a program to fit their interests and needs, within the guidelines established by the College of Arts and Sciences. Their course of study is crowned by a senior project that addresses their individual career goals. For those whose career plans include teaching drama in the public schools, Stetson offers teacher training through a cooperative program with the Division of Education.
Major in Theatre Arts 36 hours including 9 hours of theatre electives. Lower Division Requirements - Introduction to Theatre (3), Acting I (3), Directing I (3), Stagecraft (3), and Theatre Workshop (2). Upper Division Requirements - Theatre History, Seminar, and/or Dramatic Theory (2 courses, 6 hours), Theatre Workshop (2), plus a senior research project (2 courses, 5 hours). Electives - Students may choose at least three courses (9) from among over a dozen courses in performance and/or design/technical theatre, including one independent study, including: Stage Lighting, Creative Dramatics, Voice and Diction, Costume and Makeup, Directing II, Acting II and III, Production Management, and Summer Theatre.
