ABOUT
NCBI
The
National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) is dedicated to ending the
mistreatment of every group whether it stems from nationality, race, class,
gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, job, or life
circumstance. All
NCBI programs aim to develop leaders who initiate diversity programs, take
principled and courageous stands, build bridges across heated group conflicts,
and model being fierce allies for all groups. Since 1984, NCBI has been
working to eliminate prejudice and intergroup conflict in communities
throughout the world and has
conducted effective diversity programs on hundreds
of
college campuses. Currently, NCBI has active Campus Affiliates at
approximately 65 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
Stetson
University became an NCBI Affiliate in the summer of 2006. NCBI at Stetson
The Stetson
University NCBI chapter is a team of students, staff and
faculty trained by NCBI to provide a valuable resource to the entire campus
community, conducting diversity programs and helping to resolve conflicts.
The
NCBI Team can
provide workshops that create a more inclusive campus environment.
Participants in these workshops acquire not only practical skills for shifting
prejudicial attitudes, but they also learn how to become more effective allies
for one another.
The NCBI Team can also assist when tough conflicts arise between campus groups.
